Fancy a massage with a sea view, or some open-air reflexology? Many of the leading hotels in the Caribbean now have serious spas, not just a few treatment and beauty rooms, but full-service operations led by leading spa companies. So you can expect to relax in the lap of luxury. Even side-by-side, on his and hers beds, if you’re feeling romantically inclined.
The spas come under many different flags, including Shambhala, Aveda, Molton Brown and ESPA, so if you have a favourite then use the general search engine in the right hand column. You will find a range of treatments on offer everywhere, from a hard core Swedish or hot stones massage through to aromatherapy, but resorts have their specialities. Hotels vary in their policy of letting in outsiders, so if you will not be staying there, check with the individual hotel before departure. Although most services are available to come in if you are in a villa, there are even a couple of villas that have their own spa areas.
And spa treatment is not all. In an area as large as the Caribbean, other things are also on offer, including holistic activities such as meditation, yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates, and sometimes a range of complementary therapies – for instance Reiki and acupuncture - that can be brought to your door.
