Local Organisers are on-island ‘fixers’ who can offer a fast track to the best that an island has to offer. Their in-depth knowledge enables them to give advice on the most suitable excursions, restaurants, car hire and with onward inter-island travel, some of which may be hard to book from your country of origin.
They can also help to arrange an event or celebration. With all their contacts, a well-connected local representative might make all the difference to your Caribbean wedding but some Caribbean islands have excellent bespoke Wedding and Event Planners. See here for a list of Caribbean Wedding planners and our notes on Wedding and Events planning.
If you are travelling with a UK/European tour operator then you should be offered the services of a local representative (also called a ground handler) as part of your package. They are responsible for all your pre-paid arrangements while you are on island, including 24-hour emergency cover. See our notes on services provided by local organisers .
If you are travelling independently then you might consider using a local rep in the same way. Their fees are usually modest, but often they offer a ‘concierge service’, meeting you as you arrive, arranging your hotel or villa transfer and providing advice about the island.
The local organisers featured by DefinitiveCaribbean have been carefully selected. They have the best contacts and offer the best quality excursions, and would be a good point of contact for any traveller.
