Medical
Health services and medical facilities are intended to be of the same standard as in metropolitan France so they are both modern and comprehensive. There are five large hospitals and over 20 clinics across the island. In a medical emergency there is a casualty room at the main Pointe à Pitre Hospital at Abymes, t 80 10 10.

There are no vaccination requirements to enter Guadeloupe but it is recommended that travellers, especially children, be up to date on routine immunizations. The main danger to tourists comes from overexposure to the sun so make sure you use adequate SPF protection and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. Insect bites may be a problem so make sure to wear mosquito repellent.

Nudity
Topless sunbathing is perfectly acceptable and common all over the island. There is a nudist beach at Plage Tarare on the northern side of Pointe des Châteaux. Swimwear however should be reserved for the beach and you are asked to cover up in the towns.
