Golf With so many visitors who play golf, Grand Cayman has been keen to introduce the sport (to Grand Cayman at least). However, with little available land around all the development along the West Bay Road it has been hard to get it to work. One option was the development of a lighter ball that does not hit as far as normal to compensate for the lack of space, but now there is a major 18 hole course and two nine hole courses. Factors to be aware of when playing are the wind and water hazards.
Links Safehaven, West Bay Road, Grand Cayman, t 949 5988
Low lying and sandy course, watch out for the strong trade winds. 18 holes, par 71.
Blue Tip, Ritz Carlton Hotel, West Bay Road, t 815 6500
Designed by Greg Norman, a 9 hole course set inland at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, golf shop, practice range, caddie and instruction.
Britannia Golf Club, Grand Cayman, t 949 8020, www.britanniagolfclub.com
Three courses to choose from at the Hyatt Regency Hotel - a 9 hole full length course, 18 hole par 3 course or a special course designed for the shorter hitting Cayman Ball. Very popular so book well in advance.
If you are looking for an activity for children there is minigolf on West Bay Road by the Hyatt Hotel, Grand Cayman. |

Medical Like the rest of the Caribbean, the Cayman Islands have a hot but fairly benign climate. If you are unlucky enough in your holiday to need a doctor and you are staying in a hotel then your first port of call should probably be your hotel front desk as most of them have a doctor on call. Otherwise, particularly if you are staying in an apartment or a private house, there are medical facilities in the recently expanded hospital on Hospital Rd in George Town, t 949 8600. There are also several clinics if all you need is a prescription. A 24 hour hyperbaric decompression chamber is available for divers and an air ambulance service for other emergencies
Vaccinations are not required for entry into the Cayman Islands with the exception of travellers who are coming from an area infected with Yellow Fever. |

Nudity You will not find any nude beaches in the Cayman Islands. Cayman Islands law prohibits all forms of public nudity, including topless sunbathing. The Caymanians are very modest and so you are asked to confine beachwear to the beach to avoid offence. |
