Banks
Banks are open Monday to Thursday 9am-4pm and Friday 9am-4.30pm. Cayman National Bank also opens on Saturday mornings. ATMs accepting Visa, MasterCard and cards with Cirrus affiliation are located at banks across the islands.

In addition to the retail banks, the Cayman Islands are well known internationally as an offshore banking centre. There is a huge number of banks and they are located largely in the area around George Town on Grand Cayman.

Beaches
Grand Cayman has the best beaches in the Cayman Islands, on the western side and in the North Sound, where there is superb white sand and generally beautifully clear blue water. The rest of the coastline is often rocky, though there are small inlets of sand, particularly in the east. The two smaller islands don’t have much in the way of spectacular beaches. In a similar way, much of the shoreline on Cayman Brac is rocky and there are only a few areas with passable sand on Little Cayman, mainly in the west. They are of course rightly famous for their snorkelling.

Seven Mile Beach, west coast, Grand Cayman
A superb, west-facing stretch of sand, the most popular (and developed) area of Grand Cayman, and of course home to the majority of the island's hotels. There are watersports outfits and beach bars all along its length, though development peters out towards the north so it is a little quieter there. There is a stunning view of the sunset and a good chance of seeing the Green Flash.

Smiths Cove, west coast, Grand Cayman
A local favourite, an accessible small cove a mile south of George Town with brilliant snorkelling for beginners. White sands, clear waters and picnic facilities are available.

Rum Point, North Sound, Grand Cayman
Lively beach area with a variety of beach activities and watersports. Smooth white sand flanked by shade trees and calm blue water. Popular bars and restaurants just off the beach. Can be reached on a ferry from the Hyatt Hotel.

Cayman Kai, North Sound, Grand Cayman
Just below Rum Point, this beach offers the chance to swim, snorkel and sunbathe in relative solitude. Generally very peaceful and quiet.

Water Cay, north Grand Cayman
Also below Rum Point, Water Cay is a peaceful and secluded beach perfect for quiet sunbathing.

East End, east coast of Grand Cayman
One broad stretch of sand (with a hotel) and some pretty and isolated sun traps, ranged around the sparsely populated East End of Grand Cayman. Along the craggy coastline sandy tracks lead to secluded sunbathing spots.

Cayman Brac and Little Cayman
The coastlines of both islands are mainly rocky, but there are some narrow but nice beaches in the west of each island (where the hotels are) and some small stretches of sand in the rocky shorefront.

Owen Island, off Little Cayman
Tiny island just a short boat trip from the south of Little Cayman. Secluded sand, brilliant fishing waters and one of the best places to get away from it all.

Casinos
There are no casinos in the Cayman Islands. Gambling is prohibited by law.

Check In/Check Out
Check out times vary between 11am and 12 noon and check in is seldom prior to 3pm, during which time accommodations are made ready for new arrivals. Normally these times are not an issue as most international flight arrivals into the Cayman Islands are in the mid or late afternoon. Some properties may provide day rooms/shower facilities subject to availability.

Cruises
A full range of cruise ships visit the country, anchoring at George Town on Grand Cayman and at Creek on Cayman Brac. Most of the arrivals into George Town are huge liners that carry thousands of tourists, but a few of the smaller more stylish ships also stop over. There are also some dive cruises.
