Medical
Like the rest of the Caribbean, Bonaire has a hot but benign climate. If you are unlucky enough to fall ill your first port of call should probably be your hotel front desk as most hotels have a doctor on call.

In a medical emergency there is the San Francisco Hospital in Kralendijk, t 717 8900. In the case of a diving injury, the island also has its own decompression chamber and ambulance aircraft.

There are no special health requirements for visitors to Bonaire, but travellers coming from areas infected with Yellow Fever need an immunisation certificate.

Nudity
Sorobon Beach Resort in the south-east of the island has a nudist beach. Elsewhere, public nudity is officially against the law, but topless sunbathing and swimming is tolerated on the resort beaches.

Passports & Visas
US citizens can enter Bonaire with a birth certificate and a picture ID, or a valid Passport, in addition to an ongoing or return ticket. It is however important to remember that as of January 2007, all United States citizens are required to have a passport to return to the US.

A passport is required for Canadians intending to visit Bonaire. It must be valid for at least three months beyond the date of your expected departure from the island. If travelling to Bonaire for one week or less, you are only required to be in possession of valid photo identification and proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate). Remember that if you are travelling via the United States, you will need a passport.

UK citizens must use a valid passport and be in possession of a return ticket.

Citizens of most countries in the world do not need a visa for their entry to the island, however some do, so make sure to check with your travel operator when planning your trip.
