Beach & Swimming
The closest beach to Villa Coco is Lorient, which is at the bottom of the hill and takes just a couple of minutes to reach. St Jean, the busiest beach on the island, is visible in the distance. Here you will find beach bars, watersports andoften a lively crowd.

Villa Coco has a large, striking, curved swimming pool with an infinity edge. It sits below the spacious wooden sunbathing deck that leads off the open-air living and dining rooms. The shallow end has a unique flight of spiral steps (in the shape of a snail’s shell in cross-section) and a slightly submerged circular platform on which you can loll and lounge. There is also a sitting ledge along its inner length. A broad flight of wooden steps leads off the pool deck to a lower sun terrace, the third bedroom and a gym.

Sports & Recreation
There is a fitness room on Villa Coco’s lower level (next to the third bedroom). Equipment includes a treadmill, exercise bike and an elliptical cross trainer.

Locality
Villa Coco is set on the hillside above Lorient on the north coast of the island. The area has a certain ‘local’ feel because there is a community there with a supermarket, petrol station, post office, a church and small school all centred around a very nicely kept graveyard. There is also a very nice beach, though there are no facilities directly on it.

Useful Hints
Your housekeeper will visit on the morning after your arrival and arrange with you what time you would like your villa to be cleaned each day. They will change bed linen at least twice a week and towels normally every other day. A personal laundry service is not provided. There is a laundromat and a dry cleaning service in St Jean. If you want, it is possible to arrange an evening turn-down service as well (at extra cost).

Sibarth, Wimco’s sister company on St Barths, will provide a general concierge service when you are on island (t 29 88 90). In addition they are happy to provision your villa in advance of your arrival. A standard arrival pack with sufficient supplies for your first evening and breakfast will include a roast chicken, ham, cheese, pastries, juices and fruit, plus beverages. You can also provide Sibarth/Wimco with your own specific provisioning requirements or they can arrange the services of a chef.

Airport Meet & Greet
When you arrive at the airport you should (turn right and) go to the Sibarth counter, which is among the car hire stands. Almost all guests hire a car and pick it up at the airport. Assuming you have rented one in advance, your name will be on one of the car rental boards, and so after you have collected it you will follow a member of the Sibarth staff to your villa. He or she will then settle you in, explaining how everything works and giving advice about the island – anything from where to buy groceries and which beaches to visit, to which restaurants to dine at.

Getting Around
A hire car is essential for a private villa holiday in St Barths. Although everything is quite close at hand, taxis are hard to come by on the island and anyway a car will be useful for visiting the beaches by day and of course when you dine out at night. Book a car via your travel organiser or direct with
Europcar and Gumbs Car Rental. Both companies have outlets at the airport and the standard procedure is to pick the car up on arrival. A Sibarth representative will then guide you to your villa. It is easiest (and standard practice) to leave the car at the airport on departure. Please be aware that at the height of the season, particularly over Christmas and New Year, the cars become very booked up, so it is necessary to book it at least a month in advance.
