Beach & Swimming
Sea Fans is set right on the sand of Mahoe Bay, a lovely half-mile curve of light sand with excellent water. A number of other villas front onto the sand and although all beaches are public in the BVI the beach is not usually visited by outsiders so it is generally very quiet.

The pool (20ft x40ft) is set on the main terrace at Sea Fans. It has a raised stone wall surround and a submerged sitting ledge at one end. It is secluded from view from the beach by the gardens.

Sports & Recreation
There is a communal tennis court located in the centre of the Mahoe Bay estate and is for use by all resident villa guests.

Locality
Sea Fans is part of a small community of seventeen villas (all managed by Virgin Gorda Villa Rentals) on the beachfront in Mahoe Bay on Virgin Gorda’s west and north-facing shoreline. There is a tennis court, which is for everyone’s use, and a small office, from which the housekeeping is managed. (The main office of Virgin Gorda Villa Rentals is in Leverick Bay, in the reception of the Leverick Bay Hotel, whose facilities are also available to guests).

Mahoe Bay is ten minutes north of Spanish Town, the main settlement on the island. If you head to town you will pass a good Italian restaurant, Giorgo’s, and shortly afterwards the excellent beaches at Savannah Bay and Pond Bay, where there are no facilities except for a couple of thatch parasols. In Spanish town you will find banks, a post office and shops around the marina. Try Chez Bamboo for a nice meal out and Sam’s for an often lively bar. The famous beaches around the Baths are to the south of the town.

To the north of Mahoe Bay an unmade road follows the coastline (the main road north leads from just outside Spanish Town), passing other villa developments in Nail Bay (and a lovely stretch of sand at Mountain Trunk Bay) and eventually reaching the Bond, a section of Gun Creek, the northern settlement of the island. Leverick Bay, with all its activity and sports can be reached below here.

Useful Hints
A basic provisioning service can be provided in advance for arrivals coming in after 7pm, for which a service charge will apply.

Please note that none of the villas on Virgin Gorda have personal laundry services and that a laundry room in the villa will be purely for doing towels and bed linen. There are public launderettes in Leverick Bay Resort and the Yacht Harbour in Spanish Town. Drop-off laundry services are also available.

Baby cots/cribs are available for US$10 per night. There is an extra person/children charge of US$50 per night (sleeping on roll-away/fold-up bed).

Staff gratuities are not included in the 12% Service Charge on the rental rates. You should therefore tip your maid directly, according to the level of service provided.

Airport/Ferry Meet & Greet
You will be met by the Virgin Gorda Villa Rentals General Assistant at your arrival point (this will probably be at the small airport or at the ferry dock in Spanish Town). If you are hiring a car as most people do, then they suggest that you arrange to have it delivered to your arrival point, after which you will follow the General Assistant to the villa. They will then settle you in and give you a general briefing on the area.

Getting Around
Mahoe Bay is relatively remote and so you will need a hire car. It enables you to visit other beaches by day and the restaurants in the evenings, and of course you will need to collect groceries as well. Cars are available through Virgin Gorda Villa Rentals or you can organise one in advance through your travel organiser. The car rental company will issue you with your local driving licence at the same time that they deliver the car. Vehicles can be returned at the airport or the ferry terminal or they can be collected from the property at a pre-arranged time on your departure day.

If you would like to explore the North Sound (a nearly enclosed area of water in the north of Virgin Gorda), it is possible to hire small boats from Leverick Bay.
