Sea Breeze Beach Hotel is an appealing beachfront resort tucked away in a quiet corner of Barbados’s south coast, on Maxwell Coast Road close to Oistins. Set on two beautiful white sand beaches, the hotel has just under eighty rooms and studios (plus two 2-bedroom apartments) that overlook a pretty central garden. Here you will find the main facilities including the Mermaid Restaurant, the wedding gazebo and a cluster of three Jacuzzis. Either side stand the rooms, in pale pink, three-storey buildings with traditional white wood-lattice balconies. Each side has its own swimming pool, beach access and a distinctly different atmosphere – busier to the south on the main beach with its watersports (particularly windsurfing) and the quieter to the north. Sea Breeze Beach Hotel is a friendly and informal resort which offers good value, an all-rounder which is popular for weddings and for families. It is resort hotel, so everything is at hand, but it is also within easy reach of the restaurants and nightlife at St Lawrence Gap. By island standards this is a good and relatively cheap Barbados hotel, whether on the bed and breakfast or all inclusive plan.

Locality
Sea Breeze Beach Hotel is situated at the bottom corner of Maxwell Coast Road, a quiet ‘gap’ on the South Coast of Barbados and is one of a handful of hotels strung along this quieter section of coastline just north of Oistins. Just a few minutes west along the main road towards Bridgetown is the left turn into Dover, where you will come to the charming, leafy corner of Dover Woods, followed by a string of hotels, bars and restaurants. In the centre of Dover itself is the Dover cricket pitch just inland from the beach. Next you come to St Lawrence Gap, the heart of the activity of the South Coast (this section is one-way if you are travelling by car, so you will need to head back out onto Highway 7 heading north and turn back in again the head of St Lawrence Gap).

The strip is several hundred yards long, lined on both sides with hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs. There is a good variety of places to eat out. For a smart evening try The Restaurant at Southsea, Josef’s or Pisces, which all have very attractive settings on the waterfront. Less expensive restaurants, which come with plenty of variety, include Café Sol (Mexican) and The Ship Inn. The fun of the strip starts off early in the evening. Bars to look out for include Coast, Jumbie's, Café Sol, The Ship Inn and McBrides. Later in the evening the crowd gravitates towards the clubs nearby. Try The Reggae Lounge and After Dark. St Lawrence Gap also has some general facilities such as a small supermarket and a branch of the Royal Bank of Canada. There are plenty of other bars and restaurants beyond St Lawrence Gap on the main south coast road.

Back out on Highway 7 and heading east takes you into Oistins, Barbados’s third town. It is a fishing centre and so you will see the brightly coloured fishing boats anchored in the bay or hauled up onto the sand. The town is well known for its Fish Fry evenings. Some of the stalls are open several nights of the week, but they are busiest at the weekend, particularly on Fridays, when the whole waterfront area is loud and lively. In the town you will find banks, a police station and several shops including a supermarket.

Meet & Greet
If you are travelling independently, taxis are usually available at the airport and will cost around US$13 each way. The ride from the airport takes around 15 minutes, depending on the traffic. Alternatively, if you would prefer to be taken care of from the minute you arrive at the airport, with a range of services that can include limousine transfers, a Concierge Service is offered by
St James Travel & Tours.

If you are booking Sea Breeze Hotel through a travel organiser, it is likely that their representative will be at the airport to meet you. This service and your return airport transfers should be included in the cost of your holiday. Please check at the time of booking.

Getting Around
Hiring a car to explore the island or go to a different beach for the day is easily arranged. Book via your tour operator or direct with
Stoutes Car Rentals. Ask for them to deliver your vehicle to Sea Breeze Beach Hotel, where they can also issue your local driving licence. Be aware that at the height of the winter season there is often a shortage of cars, so you are advised to book yours in advance. If you want a car for a week or more the rates can also be better. Vehicles can be returned at the airport or be collected from the property at a pre-arranged time on your departure day. Taxis are readily available through reception. It is also easy and quite fun to take buses along the South Coast‘s main road, Highway 7.
