Hotel Mocking Bird Hill is a small and friendly owner-operated retreat on the hillside just outside Port Antonio in Portland, the most fertile and beautiful part of Jamaica. Set in a modern house in excellent tropical gardens, it has just 10 rooms – they are brightly decorated in sleek and modern style, using some local products - and so it has an intimate and welcoming feel. The owners, who live on property, are active supporters of local culture and industry and so, as well as visiting the beach, they encourage you to bird-watch (40 species can even be seen on property) and to hike in the hills nearby. Their Mille Fleurs restaurant, set on the large veranda, is popular in its own right for its nouvelle Caribbean cuisine and homemade jams, breads, pastas and ice creams.
