Jumby Bay is one of just a few hotels in the Caribbean that are set on their own private island, which gives it its own special seclusion and exclusivity. Scattered over a leisurely mile of grounds on the western shore of the island, the hotel’s rooms and central areas look over lawns and its magnificent stretch of sand across to the Antiguan mainland. Jumby Bay has recently been completely redone, the traditional tropical luxury of its forty suites now touched with Oriental style. The hotel is generally tranquil, with a few low key activities, but there is often a sense of community about Jumby Bay, brought about partly by guests staying in the private villas and apartments scattered around on the island. Update - Jumby Bay closed on 01 June 2008 for a US$26 million renovation project and is due to re-open November 2009.
