Cocos has an almost unnatural Caribbean charm. Set on a point above Jolly Harbour (and slightly removed from it), it is a series of gingerbread ‘chattel house’ cottages that stand in an ascending line on a hillside and surrounded by delightful tropical gardens. The cottages are pretty simple inside and quite rustic with exposed wooden walls and ceilings under tin roofs, but they each have a lovely balcony from which there is a cracking view offshore and into the bay, where the water has fantastic colours of jade and turquoise. There is a well-priced all-inclusive package, but as a small and laid back hotel, Cocos does not depend on a never-ending regime of activities that the larger all-inclusive resorts do, so it can also suit more independent travellers as well.

KEY FEATURES
A relatively inexpensive, small Antigua all inclusive hotel with 20 quite simple and charming wooden cabins, each with a small balcony. Restaurant, pool and bar, small library, ceiling fans, fridge, coffee maker.

STYLE
Very relaxed atmosphere, with classic Caribbean style, small and brightly painted ‘chattel house’ cottages with tin roofs and pretty ‘gingerbread’ trim, quite simple, a touch rustic

CLIENT PROFILE
A younger crowd, independent travellers as well
