Trinidad birding, Trinidad vacation

The Asa Wright Nature Centre and Lodge is one of the finest birding lodges in the world. Set high up in the Northern Range in Trinidad, it overlooks a magnificent forested valley from the former estate house of a coffee and cocoa plantation. Life is centred on the veranda, from where you can see scores of species of birds, but there is a host of birding and nature activities in the surrounding mountains. The accommodation is relatively simple, but perfectly comfortable.

KEY FEATURES
Trinidad birding lodge with daily birding walks and feeds. Excellent Trinidad vacation close to nature. 24 rooms with private verandas, some traditional, some wheelchair access, others modern in separate cottages. Restaurant with Trinidadian-inspired food. Rates include full meal plan and a rum punch every evening. Natural swimming pool, gift shop. Twice daily bird feedings, many birding walks, daily visit to the oil birds.

STYLE
Traditional wooden estate house with a classic screened veranda. Some more modern cottages. Generally low-key atmosphere with old time Caribbean graciousness, with plenty of nature and birding activity of course.

CLIENT PROFILE
Birders and nature travellers, local visitors often by day, some independent travellers who are not put off by a very bird-oriented atmosphere
