Gazebo at Bellfield for a wedding in Jamaica, and a wedding package in Jamaica
Gazebo at Bellfield
Glamour Tours is one of Jamaica’s leading destination management companies. Based in Montego Bay, the main hub in the North-West of the island, they offer a wide range of services for individual travellers, including airport transfers, island tours and tailor-made weddings. They also organise events, including conferences and the on-island programmes of incentive groups. Finally they provide tour operator representation for in-bound travel organisers.

Created in 1987 by Chairman and Managing Director Roy Anderson and co-director Myrtle Dwyer, Glamour Tours started out doing only transfers and island tours. However their rationale was always to provide a wider range and professional level of ground handling services, at a standard that did not exist in Jamaica at that time. The introduction of programme planning for groups staying at Half Moon resulted in the eventual evolution of Glamour Tours into a destination management company. By 2005 it owned its own fleet of luxury buses and cars and had a full portfolio of services. Testament to its success is their ongoing relationship with Half Moon, one of Jamaica’s leading hotels. They are located there and have provided ground handling services for the hotel since 1989.

As an individual traveller you are most likely to come across Glamour Tours through their island tours or Concierge Services, in which they can organise the details of your trip on island for you. Please see Concierge Service below. However, the company also caters to groups. This might be a wedding for 100 or a conference for 1000. Glamour Tours have a dedicated wedding department, which can tailor-make the entire event for you, whatever the size. As well as taking you through the regulations and the ceremony, they can arrange cocktail parties, rehearsal dinners and even stag and hen parties.

Glamour Tours’ groups department has handled hundreds of incentive and convention groups over the years, some with as many as a thousand delegates. And in addition to the organisation of the conference itself, the company can use its local knowledge and experience in island tours and excursions to organise the best outside activities for delegates and accompanying non-participants. While Glamour Tours often work with Half Moon, which has extremely extensive facilities, they are also happy to arrange events in any number of other locations and venues.

The team at Glamour Tours comprises twenty-eight permanent staff with additional freelance staff called upon when necessary. The main team is made up as follows: Roy C Anderson, Managing Director; Myrtle Dwyer, Director; Jennifer Stewart, Senior Manager – Groups and Incentives; Velton Binns, Transportation Supervisor; Clifton Harris and Patricia Walker, accountants; Shernette Lewis, administrative assistant; one receptionist, three airport representatives; twelve drivers; two tour desk representatives and two wedding consultants.

Concierge Service
A concierge service can make a considerable difference to the quality of a private holiday for the discerning traveller, or to the execution of arrangements for an executive group. The support in the background will take the weight of organisation off your shoulders and leave you to get the best out of your trip. It can also smooth out the wrinkles of travel, even before you realise that they have arisen.

Glamour Tours are happy to use their contacts in Jamaica to arrange anything that will make a difference during your holiday. This might include a restaurant booking, an island tour, tickets to a music festival or perhaps private entertainment. They offer meet and greet at the airport, with a specific type of airport transfer to your accommodation. They can deliver cakes, wine or Champagne and flowers or a fruit basket. They can even arrange a party or a special event for you and your partner.

Please contact Glamour Tours for details and prices for your specific requirements.

Destination Management
Destination Management is a service generally provided to travel organisers, but independent travellers may be interested to see the sort of services that are included in a ‘package’ or flight-inclusive holiday booked through a tour operator/travel organiser. In the UK and Europe it is a legal requirement for companies selling flight-inclusive vacation packages to provide a local representative/ground handler for their clients, together with 24-hour emergency cover to all travellers. Glamour Tours look after several well known Caribbean specialist tour operators/wholesalers and their clients. They provide a comprehensive service, which is tailored specifically to portray the company’s image to their clients, while saving the tour companies the expense of supporting their own representative on Jamaica.

Glamour Tours is supported by a large complement of drivers, tour sale representatives and support staff. They are easily identified by company uniforms - the men in black pants, white shirt with the Glamour Tours’ logo and an orange, green, yellow and black tie and women in green skirts, white blouse, and a black vest. Staff members are selected for their ability, communication skills and, most importantly, their concern for people. If there is a problem or perhaps a medical emergency, they will be there to help. Staff regularly attend seminars on corporate policy, business trends and reviews of procedures.

Incoming clients are met by an airport representative with a sign as they exit the customs hall. The client is then given a pack that includes a welcome letter, Glamour Tours’ office telephone numbers, a twenty-four hour emergency telephone number and a brochure portraying popular tours. Clients are then escorted to their pre-arranged air conditioned vehicle for transfer to their accommodation.

The services offered by Glamour Tours to travel companies, tour operators, wholesalers, corporate and incentive groups include:

• Airport Meet and Greet
• Welcome package
• Airport/pier Porterage and Baggage Handling
• Ground Transportation
• Hospitality Desk
• Cold Towel and refreshment en route to hotel
• Hotel reservation and recommendation
• Restaurant recommendation
• Excursion and tours
• Flight reconfirmation
• 24 hour emergency coverage
• Regular client ‘check ups’ by phone

Cruise Ships
Jamaica sees over a million cruise ship passengers a year, which almost matches the number of visitors that arrive by plane. Ocho Rios is by far the busiest port of call, attracting around 70% of all cruise ship arrivals, though arrivals into Montego Bay are also gradually on the increase. Port Antonio’s new marina attracts the smaller ships and mega-yachts. Jamaica is on the itinerary of Silversea Cruises, Fred Olsen Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, Holland America, Costa, MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line. If you require on-shore services or Jamaica island tours, Glamour Tours will help by providing cruise ship reception services.

Weddings & Event Planning
Glamour Tours’ dedicated Wedding Department will work with you to create your ideal wedding day or renewal of wedding vows ceremony. They can arrange anything from a simple wedding on the beach to a formal marriage and reception in a hotel. They do have a number of standard packages to offer, but they can also help if you would like a wedding in a traditional Jamaican church or if you would like to do something a bit more adventurous. You might want to create your own ceremony in a spectacular island location, say on a catamaran, by the delightful cascades of Dunn’s River Falls or barefoot on one of Jamaica’s fantastically beautiful beaches. There are also many private villas, incredibly pretty river-banks, tropical gardens such as Coyaba River Garden and historic plantation great houses like Bellefield. The great thing is that Glamour Tours can take all the effort and stress out of the organisation for you, leaving you to relax and enjoy your day. A member of the Association of Bridal Consultants, Association of Wedding Professionals International, June Wedding Inc and the National Association of Wedding Professionals Inc, Glamour Tours can tailor-make all aspects of a wedding to your requirements.

Glamour Tours will liaise with you before you arrive on island, making suggestions to fit your ideas and then putting it all in place. When you reach Jamaica they will take you through the documentation to fulfil government regulations and then enact everything you have planned together, providing cakes, photographers, a dinner, a band on request and a going-away vehicle, which might be anything from a horse to a stretch limousine. Glamour Tours can arrange anything from a small and simple affair to a major event that includes rehearsal dinners, cocktail parties, receptions and wedding dinners with outside caterers if necessary. They will even organise your hen and stag parties.

Corporate Travel / Incentives
Jamaica offers excellent facilities for group travel, both for corporate meetings and conferences and for incentive trips. There are good international air-links to begin with, making the island easy to get to, there are many purpose-built conference facilities, and then there are also excellent opportunities for activities around a conference, with endless sports, side-trips and places to visit. Jamaica is also equipped to hold conferences of almost any size. There are some excellent small hotels and villas, hideaways with real style and service that would make an excellent retreat or board meeting, but there are also some huge, international-standard venues too, with convention and entertainment facilities for up to over 1000 people.

Glamour Tours have a wealth of knowledge and experience in handling large groups for conventions, conferences and incentives, with some group programmes numbering as many as 4000 delegates. They will help to locate the right venue for your needs and can offer the following services: destination teasers, hospitality desks, tours and excursions, custom theme parties, receptions, cruises, sports tournaments, entertainment, team building activities, VIP room gifts, dine-arounds, spouse and children’s programmes, multi media presentations, guest speakers, photographic services and they can also arrange customs brokerage.
