For Nevis car rentals we recommend TDC Thrifty Car Rentals because of their solid and reliable service over many years. They have a fleet of around 80 cars and jeeps in the season, the largest on Nevis. TDC Thrifty is part of TDC, one of the biggest companies in Nevis, which has a sister company in St Kitts.
TDC Thrifty’s main office is on the waterfront in the TDC car park in Charlestown, but they also use the LIAT desk at the airport (TDC is also the agent for LIAT on the island) and of course they deliver to anywhere the island, including hotels and villas, where they will also issue your local driving licence.
A service well worth bearing in mind is that if you are hiring a car from TDC in Nevis and wish to go to explore St Kitts for the day, then you can trade in the car and another will be provided for you on the other island. You simply drop off your car at the main office on the waterfront in Charlestown or at the airport and they will arrange for a car to be waiting for you when you arrive in Basseterre. It is only three minutes walk from the ferry dock to the main office in West Independence Square St from the ferry dock and so most visitors pick up there.
TDC Thrifty’s parent company is TDC. It is one of St Kitts and Nevis’s largest trading companies and has been in business for over thirty years. It has business in many sectors, including general automobiles and spare parts, general importation in the islands (of clothing, manufactured good and building materials), the financial sector, savings and insurance businesses.
TDC is also the general service agent on the island for the local Caribbean airline LIAT, through their travel arm on Main Street in Charlestown. Their main warehouse and offices are the TDC Mall on the northern outskirts of Charlestown. |

Terms & Conditions
The terms and conditions for car rental on the island of Nevis (and St Kitts) are as follows:
Minimum Age: 25. Drivers must have held a licence for over two years.
Driver's Licence: valid St. Kitts and Nevis driver's license at least two years old, or a temporary driver's license in the case of visitors.
Collision Damage: the hirer may pay a daily fee of US$10.00 for collision damage waiver. This covers a deductible of US$200.00.
Limited Third Party Liability Cover: this covers carries a deductible of US $950.00 or the hirer may pay a fee of US $5.00 per day as a waiver on the deductible.
Government Levy: 5% of the basic rental charge
Minimum Charge: One (1) day, with each additional hour being 1/6 of daily rate.
Gasoline: Not included in rates but a gasoline deposit is required.
Payment: estimated rental charge plus collision damage waiver payable in advance
Unlimited mileage, complimentary road map, free customer pick-up in metropolitan area.
Child seats and booster seats are available on request.
Rates are subject to change without notice
Method of Payment: Cash, Traveller's Cheques, Visa, Master Card or American Express credit cards.
Accidents: Must be reported immediately to the nearest police station and TDC Rentals Ltd.
Traffic Violations: Hirer is liable for all traffic violations committed by the driver.
Usage: Vehicles are not for off the road use. |

Delivery
TDC Car Rentals will deliver anywhere on the island and work closely with the hotels and villa management companies to ensure that everything goes smoothly. If your flight is delayed and you are not going to reach your accommodation in time for delivery, TDC will know about it and make sensible adjustments to the arrangements.
We recommend that you take delivery of your car at your accommodation rather than at the airport, unless you know your way around Nevis well. At the end of your hire period, it is best to return the car at the airport. There is a small charge for collecting cars from villas. |

Reservations
We recommend that you book in advance if you are intending to hire a car for longer than three days, particularly if you are travelling during the main winter season from 15 December until after Easter. Other busy periods for Nevis car hire companies are over Thanksgiving and August. The best idea is to book your car at the same time as you book your accommodation or holiday.
